Abstract
Dataset produced from the spreadsheet donated by Gerald Moorhead and created by researchers collecting data for the two-volume publication, Buildings of Texas. Architects and other contributor names have been normalized and building types have been added to portions of the dataset. In VERSION 1, Architects and other contributor names have been normalized and building types have been added to portions of the dataset. Built works with identifiable locations have been geocoded.

Use Limitation
The dataset is limited by both variations in the data and ESRI’s geocoding process. The address information entered on the original spreadsheet was not always as complete or accurate as is neccesary for geocoding, and at times consisted of intersection or directional data (ex: “10005 FM 390 1 mi E”). It is also important to note that ESRI’s geocoding service tends to place points close to the street level, particularly in cases of geocoded intersections, rather than in the center of the lot the address represents. The full dataset has not been manually validated, and the accuracy of points cannot be guaranteed. Users are advised to read the data set's metadata thoroughly to understand appropriate use and data limitations.

Statement
This dataset was developed from an Excel spreadsheet that is part of the Buildings of Texas archival collection, donated by Gerald Moorhead, author of Buildings of Texas: Central, South, and Gulf Coast. This collection was deposited at the University of Texas at Austin’s Alexander Architectural Archives. The spreadsheet details the structures that Moorhead researched for this book and its companion volume, Buildings of Texas: East, North Central, Panhandle and South Plains, and West. The spreadsheet is organized by building, and includes both the primary structure and events such as renovations, restorations, and reuses designated as “mentions” by Moorhead. A selection of the entries in this dataset are included and described more thoroughly in the above publications. Projects were undertaken to compile, revise, enhance, and geocode the dataset. Architects and other contributor names have been normalized and include links to authority records, when possible. Building types have been added to the dataset. The metadata attached to this dataset was generated by Grace Hansen and revised by Katie Pierce Meyer. This data comes from the Alexander Architectural Archives and is part of the Buildings of Texas collection.
