    Abstract
    Biographic and other data related to the professions of Augustinian friars in 16th-century New Spain extracted from the books of professions of the convents of Mexico City, Puebla de los Angeles, and Oaxaca. The dataset only represents professions made 1534-1599. The data pertaining to Mexico City's convent comes from the original book of professions in the Genaro García Collection, call number G21. The manuscript text consists of 345 folios, dating 1537-1672; data in this book from 1600-1672 is not included in this dataset.
    Purpose
    This dataset maps the places of origin for the friars' parents.
